What is steaming hair?
Steaming involves using moist heat on the hair, as opposed to dry. Steaming the hair creates a humid environment, optimal for absorption of moisture. Steaming is also said to gently lift the hair cuticle for better penetration of ingredients. With the cuticle lifted, restoring, reconstructing, and conditioning treatments absorb into the hair shaft more effectively. Since my recent hair goal is to restore moisture and work on overall hair health, I thought these benefits might make a hair steamer a handy tool to include in my weekly regimen.
After a lot of research I decided on the LCL Beauty Personal Home Use Tap Water Hair Steamer. I decided to go with this unit because it is free standing, uses tap water (as opposed to distilled water), appeared to have a large hood, features a sixty minute timer, and was a good price in comparison to other units.
