I posted a lookbook a few weeks ago for Kohl's latest DesigNation collaboration with designer Elie Tahari. Though none of the looks from this New York City inspired collection excited me at the time, I wanted to take a look at the clothes in person and see if I would have a change of heart.

I don't have a Kohl's in my city, and get all of my purchases from the store online at Kohls.com

While out of town this past weekend, I managed to find a Kohl's nearby and was fortunate enough to get to see a lot of pieces from the Tashari for DesignNation collection in person.

I decided to take a few pieces into the fitting room.

I chose the size 6 and it fit perfectly. This one was a winner.

Elie Tahari for DesigNation NYC Skyline Fit & Flare Dress

The belt is very interesting on this dress. It is sort of like an elastic ribbon that doesn't actually detach from the dress. I chose a size 6. The scuba fabric is comfortable, drapes well, and overall; a nice fit. (Available at Kohls.com

Size 6. This one fit well, but was a bit dull to me.

It definitely needs an interesting accessory and/or shoe to jazz it up. (Available at Kohls.com

Elie Tahari for DesigNation Mixed-Media Sheath Dress

A mesh insert, knit sleeves, and double zippers from hip to hem made me look forward to trying on this mixed media dress. I decided to try the size small. Once I got it on, I didn't hate it, but I wasn't exactly in love either. It was a bit loose in the mid section, which made it forgiving, but also slightly shapeless from certain angles. . I have been kinda obsessed with sweatshirts that have interesting embellishments and/or prints since last fall. I hope this one goes down in price soon so I can add it to my collection. Though I wouldn't wear it with these french terry jogger pants, the faux fur makes it a favorite out of the all the pieces I tried on. (Both pieces are in size small.)

I like both of these tops, but the graphic mixed media tee, with the picture of the Brooklyn Bridge wins out for me. This tee along with these joggers is my idea of the perfect weekend errand running outfit. (Both tops are in size small.) (Available at Kohls.com

This mock layer sweater fit well, and seemed like a good purchase for those days where I wake up late. Just tossing it on with a pair of black skinny pants would make a simple and pulled together look without much effort. I also tried tucking it in this textured midi skirt for a crop top look.

I might consider purchasing this one if it goes on sale. (Top size small, midi skirt size 6.)

I added the textured cardigan to the textured midi skirt, and it made all the difference on my pear shape! I think it's a perfect work week chic look. To the right I paired the high low hem tee with the textured midi skirt. I didn't like this top on the hanger, and though it's not terrible it was still my least favorite of the pieces I tried on. Elie Tahari for DesigNation Faux-Suede Motorcycle Jacket

I read so many good reviews about this motorcycle jacket that I was excited to try it on. I grabbed a size medium because I tend to like to size up in my jackets to accommodate whatever I'm wearing underneath. This jacket was fitted without any uncomfortable pulling in the back, or shoulders. I still prefer my the moto jackets from last fall's Catherine Malandrino for DesigNation collaboration (I have both the cream and black versions), but if you're in the market for a nice suede moto jacket then this is a solid choice.

Overall, I was more impressed with the Elie Tahari for DesigNation collection for Kohls after seeing and trying on the pieces in person. The lookbook didn't do it justice, and I think there are a number of solid pieces that would be good additions to my wardrobe. This collection doesn't seem to be selling quickly, so I'll be waiting for markdowns to combine with coupon codes for the best deal.

You just might be seeing a few pieces in my OOTD posts in the future!
