The Weird Ways Your Home Affects How You Look

When you spend a lot of time indoors, it makes you feel safe. You can cut off from all the dangers out there - such as coronavirus - and just live in your own little bubble.

But it turns out that the quality of your interior environment can affect your beauty. After all, people report that they are aging much faster during the pandemic than at any other time in their lives!

In this post, we take a look at some of the ways your home environment can affect how you appear and what, if anything, you can do about it.

Getting fresh air is critical for a whole host of reasons. But thanks to the various restrictions on our lives, we haven’t been able to do that recently. And it is taking its toll on our skin.

Homes might look and smell pleasant. But they contain many chemicals that are actually quite harsh on the skin. For instance, many of the fragrances that we spritz in our bathrooms contain substances known to dry and irritate the skin. Some can even cause hormonal changes that make you look blotchy or tired.

If you’re spending a lot of time indoors and care about your skin, try to cut your use of cleaning and fragrance compounds. When you need to scrub something, reach for the baking soda and vinegar before you use anything commercially produced. And if you want beautiful smells in your home, use essential oils. Don’t rely on synthetics.

Lack Of Ventilation

Related to this is the fact that some homes simply lack ventilation. Not enough air is moving in and out of the house to keep the gas inside fresh.

Sometimes, your AC unit can be the source of the problem. The vent can become clogged with dust and other particles and then slowly release these back into your rooms. It’s a simple fix with 24 hour AC repair, but it can damage your skin tremendously if you put it off.

Germs

Many people are surprised to learn that their homes are often better for germs than public spaces. That’s because parks and streets receive direct radiation from the sun, which kills many germs, keeping their numbers to a minimum.

The same, of course, is not true when you step indoors. There are many places the light cannot penetrate. And that means that you’re much more likely to become blotchy when you spend time indoors.

Remember, the primary cause of acne is a bacterial buildup in pores. So if you have germs all over your home, and you touch your face with your hands, then you’ll increase your risk of breakouts. The best approach here is to regularly clean all your surfaces, wash your hands, and avoid touching your face if you can help it. Too much touching spreads microbes around and helps them get inside your pores.

In summary, your home can affect your beauty. But there are simple lifestyle changes you can make to prevent it from having any serious impact on how you look.
